Deinonychus muscle anatomy study

Deinonychus, the quintessential dromaeosaurid... Velociraptor who now? This entry in the series is definitely pushing into the realm of the bird-like anatomy, but it's not quite there. Non-avian theropods really are a strange mishmash of features. This reconstruction is scaled to the larger Yale Peabody Museum Deinonychus remains, as described in Ostrom's seminal work, with other dromaeosaurs helping to fill in the gaps. As is the case for this entire series, the scale bar = 1 metre, and our handy human comparison is approx 1.75 m tall.

The next reconstruction in this series will be thematically linked to this one... stay tuned!
